About Me

I’m Holly and before any other role in life, I am a follower of Christ. I am also a crazy chicken lady, hockey mom extraordinaire, and Hallmark movies addict. Small things make me happy like red front doors, dollar store crafts, and candles (I have a trademark scent for every month). I believe that the smell of lavender can cure any bad day and that saddleback shoes will make a comeback one day. When I visit a thrift store, which is often, I beeline for the blankets in hopes I’ll find a handmade quilt and then the dish ware to hunt for vintage Pyrex. The way to my heart is with bouquet of ranunculus or tulips…and there’s also gravy.

I was born in Northern Michigan, raised in Las Vegas (from age four to twenty seven), and lived in the SoCal High Desert for six years after marrying my Baberham Lincoln of a husband, but my heart was always pulled back to Michigan; so in March of 2018, our family moved across the country from Lucerne Valley California to Alpena, Michigan where we now reside in an adorable 1920’s home with a wrap around porch. And red front door, of course.

Currently, I homestead with a small garden on my city lot. I have sixteen egg laying chickens that I adore. Chickens have totally changed my life and taught me how to love the food I care for. Three of the girls stay here with me on our lot and the other thirteen reside in a large coop at our close friend’s farm where they free range. My family and I have set a goal to buy our own land and small farm within the next four years. Homesteading has fast become a passion of mine. I believe it’s important that people know where their food comes from and how it’s grown and raised, which is why I share our homesteading experiences on social media and this blog.

This website is my online kitchen where I share simple recipes for everyday life and real families. As the mother of a blended family of seven, my recipes are tested in a kitchen of children in age ranges from fifteen to five years old. As a homesteader, many of my recipes include ingredients fresh from my garden. You’ll find step by step pictures and a simple how to guide for every single one of my recipes here to help ensure that you can master my recipes for your own family. Food is my love language, friend. Let me love you.

Grab a cozy quilt and a glass of blackberry wine, sister. Stay awhile.

Soli deo gloria.
