I’ve done pillowcases, dollar store bags, and plastic pumpkin heads. All of the above options for trick or treat bags on Halloween. None are perfect, but they all get the job done. This year, I decided to DIY Halloween Trick or Treat Bags for my kiddos. Firstly because I’m a craft addict and will use any excuse to pull out an iron or a hot glue gun. Secondly because my kids end up using their trick or treat bags for weeks after Halloween and I wanted something that was more durable.
I start by choosing the perfect Halloween pun. My son got the ever classic, “Creep it real”. While I chose, “Hallo-Queen,” for my daughter which is extra fitting because she chose to be the Queen of Hearts this year.
Once I perfected my puns, I arranged the iron on letters over the bags.
Then I simply ironed the letters on and let them cool. Then I flipped the bag inside out and ironed the back side. So easy.
These DIY Halloween Trick or Treat Bags are hilariously fun. Plus, I love that I can pack them away and reuse them next year, which means no more Halloween waste. No more missing pillowcases, no more plastic pumpkin heads taking up pantry space or getting cracked open. Plus, look how rad my kids are carrying these hilarious bags around.
