With football season in full swing, having an easy, but delicious recipe in your arsenal is always a good idea. You never know when you will be feeding a crowd that pops over to watch the game & besides, when it’s game day, the last think you want to do is spend time in the kitchen when you could be watching your favorite team.

One of my most favorite go-to menu items are French Bread Pizzas. These little slices of joy are the perfect game day meal. They are simple, fast, easy to make, & everyone gets exactly what they want without having to compromise.

INGREDIENTS: one package of french rolls (one roll makes two small pizzas), pizza sauce or marinara sauce, mozzarella, & all of your favorite pizza toppings

My favorite place to pick up fresh ingredients for a crowd is at my local Smart & Final. They have amazing deals on bulk items without having to pay for a membership. Plus, their produce section is always so bright & fresh, I just like to go & stare at all the gorgeous fruits &veggies. Is that totally weird? I really enjoy that their stores aren’t overwhelming & feel like they swallow you whole like other warehouse stores, but also offer a wide variety of foods in bulk sizes. #ChooseSmart

DIRECTIONS: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Slice your rolls in half & lay them flat side up on a baking sheet. Top each roll with a generous amount of pizza sauce, add your cheese, & then go crazy with your toppings. This was Collin’s favorite part, of course. Once your toppings are all added, place your baking sheet on the bottom rack for 8-10 minutes. Then, increase the oven temperature to 425 degrees & let the pizzas finish until the cheese starts to bubble & turn brown. We prefer our pizzas well done, so we let them sit for a decent amount of time, but it’s up to your personal preference.

These little pizzas are also easily wrapped up in tinfoil for the perfect tailgate meal (or snack if you cut each one in half!). Bring on the football!

Right now, Smart & Final is hosting a Facebook contest. Snap a football inspired picture of your favorite First Street brand product & submit it for your chance to win $1,000. Contest runs from September 3rd-16th. Details can be found here.

Love french bread pizzas… I usually just buy the frozen ones, but my kids would love to make these from scratch. #client

It was so much fun for them to help. And not that much harder than making a frozen one. 🙂

Another fun/yum variation to French bread for pizzas? Try PITA bread!!! Perfectly sized for individual pizzas!! 🙂

That is a really great idea, Valerie! We will have to try that sometime.
